Think about the style and size of your preferred closet, as well as recycling ideas. It is important to choose a project that complements your design work.
Vintage furniture is in high demand, but it’s still possible to find great deals if you know what you’re looking for and have a budget. Once you’ve found the right closet, you need to act quickly to secure it before anyone else does. Good examples for sale can be found on used sites such as Facebook Marketplace, Gumtree and eBay. You can also find great deals at auctions, thrift stores and antique fairs.
It’s a good idea to find an item that you can assemble yourself, making sure you have enough space in your car. If you’re shopping elsewhere, you might consider arranging for home delivery to have her pick up your cabinets and bring them to you.
Most vintage furniture carries years of grime and grime that must be removed before recycling can begin. Thoroughly clean all surfaces inside and out with a sugar soap solution. If there is any smell after cleaning, wipe it with a 1:1 solution of white vinegar and water. Remove all hardware, such as metal drawer handles, and if it needs to be cleaned, boil it in a solution of vinegar or baking soda to remove rust.
Use a power sander or by hand to remove all previous product so you have a clean wood surface to paint on. If you have a very thick layer of varnish on the surface, you may need a wire wool and nail polish remover. Thoroughly wipe all areas with white spirit.
Use masking tape to cover all areas and edges of cabinets without painting. Choose a paint color, use a pencil, ruler and tape to draw and draw your design on the cabinets. Here you can go on an adventure, create energy with color.
Carefully mask each mold in batches and apply a primer or stain remover (if needed). Then apply at least three coats of your chosen color to each shape. Keep doing this until all drawings are complete.
Depending on the type of finish you want, apply two coats of varnish or wax to the painted area and body to seal and protect it. Allow the product to dry completely before use.
Replace all the knobs and decorate your new cabinets with plants or whimsical accents to make them part of your home.
