The recall concerns North States Industries Toddleroo twist locks for use in child safety cabinets. White plastic latches are sold in packs of four latches. Each latch measures 3 13/16″ W x 1 3/8″ H x 1/2″ D and comes pre-applied with adhesive. Northern states are printed in the center of the latch. Model number 6178 is printed on the top left corner of the product packaging. UPC number 0 -26107-06178-2 or 0-26107-06177-5 is printed on the lower left corner of the product packaging.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled cabinet latches and contact North States Industries for a refund. Consumers will be asked to submit front and back photos of North States Industries products and confirm they have destroyed or disposed of the latch. Upon receipt of photos and confirmation, consumers will receive a refund of $5.50 or the purchase price shown on the receipt, if applicable.
North States Industries received 19 reports of latch buttons coming off or breaking off, including one report of a child choking on the off button.
